Green Local Ammonia production, with added value
AmmoniQ Oy was established in 2023 on the Åland Islands, where our laboratory operates.
The parent company, AmmoniQ Solutions AB, which handles the business side, was launched in 2024.
We currently have two team members and are seeking additional talent to join us, including an industrial electrochemist and a machine construction engineer, among others.
The idea emerged in 2021/2022 when Tommi Remonen, our founder, conducted a technical assessment of green fertilizers. He identified an opportunity to develop a more energy-efficient green ammonia manufacturing process. The Runar Bäckström stipend of €15,000, awarded in 2023, enabled us to advance our technology—both chemistry and process equipment—and secure intellectual property for continued growth.
We now have several patents pending for our sustainable technology.
We utilize a novel electrochemical process, using only water, air, and green electricity to manufacture ammonia. The compact process equipment enables local ammonia production with added benefits.
We facilitate decentralized production of green ammonia, helping farmers, greenhouses, and industries save costs and become less vulnerable.
Ammonia (NH3) is one of the most critical chemicals globally but is also environmentally harmful, accounting for 1–2% of the world’s CO2 emissions and energy demands. Primarily used for fertilizer production, it is heavily influenced by geopolitics. Current production methods pollute and create vulnerabilities; change is urgently needed.
AmmoniQ Solutions AB is currently seeking pre-seed investments to manufacture a prototype, expand our intellectual property, and grow our team. Contact us if you’re interested in learning more!
